Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams had agreed among themselves to play against their own habits, and you can hear it: standards such as "All of You" and "My Funny Valentine" are turned inside out, tempos tilt halfway through and Williams keeps driving the group on. This second set from
