The stitching on this bag is done with the Kuguri-sashi Sashiko style stitching

with indented print on the cover

it allows the thread to plump up like a little grain of rice when washed

You just thread the included needle with the thread in the package and start stitching :-)  After the stitching is finished soak in lukewarm water and rinse away the design markings

Traditional Sashiko Design "Hana-Zashi" The Spring Sling Pattern birds and birdhousesThis traditional Japanese Sashiko design, Hana Zashi, is printed with wash out markings. You can simply thread your needle, enjoy the stitching, then rinse away the markings. English instructions are included. In Japanese this small cloth we call a sampler is called a Hana Fukin, which means 'a useful household cloth'. The finished sashiko design will be 12" X 12" This sampler is available on white or navy. It is printed on Japanese sarashi momen
